School Drills and Campus Safety

Dear Penguin Families,

On Friday, January 21st, we will conduct an announced intruder/lockdown drill, which is facilitated by division personnel and representatives from the James City County Police Department. These individuals will be present to observe our drill, provide support and help us improve our practices through immediate feedback.

Having drills multiple times during the year is not unusual; there are set guidelines by the Commonwealth to ensure preparedness and awareness on what to do in a true crisis or emergency.

We encourage you to discuss the importance of safety at school and in the community with your children.  Should you have any questions or desire additional information about school drills or campus safety, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Swann or Mrs. Nelson at 757-229-7597.

Respectfully,

Karen Swann, LLE Principal
