Matoaka Staff Adopts Brick Bat Road

IMG_1553Thanks to the efforts of teacher Gayle Harmon, Brick Bat Road is now much cleaner! The road, which runs past Matoaka Elementary, has been adopted by the staff as part of VDOT’s “Adopt a Highway”  program.  The first clean up took place on December 10th and was the joint effort of Matoaka staff and members of the school Nature Club. Another clean up day will be scheduled for the spring.

SCA Builds Gingerbread Houses

The Matoaka Student Council Association members built two gingerbread houses as part of a local holiday contest. There was much teamwork as well as competitive spirit, and most of the ingredients actually made it onto the gingerbread houses (and didn’t get repurposed as after-school snacks!).
