Congratulations to Our 5th Graders!

The Matoaka family is proud of our 5th graders as they leave the cardinal “nest” and fly off to middle school! 5th graders enjoyed a picnic together followed by the 5th grade graduation ceremony the next day. We’ll miss them all, but we are confident that our cardinals will continue their success in middle school and beyond!

Williamsburg Symphonia Performs for Students

Players from the Williamsburg Symphonia introduced 4th graders to their instruments and many of the types of music they perform for audiences. They also discussed the relationship between music and art during a variety of eras, such as the Baroque and Romantic periods. Following the performance, the Matoaka Band and Strings students performed short selections to introduce students to the various instruments they may choose to play next year as 5th graders.June 2016 004 June 2016 003 June 2016 013 June 2016 012 June 2016 011 June 2016 010 June 2016 009 June 2016 008 June 2016 007 June 2016 015 June 2016 014 June 2016 002 June 2016 001 June 2016 006 June 2016 005

Redbud Tree Planting

Thanks to the support of Dominion Power, 3rd graders planted 25 redbud seedlings on the Matoaka school grounds as part of Project Plant It! As fourth and fifth graders they will be able to watch their trees grow, beautify the landscape, and become part of the ecosystem at our school.
