Five Matoaka teachers were awarded four different grants from the Williamsburg James City County Schools Foundation.
First grade teacher Erin Poulter received a grant to create fine motor kits to assist students in building handwriting skills. Karen Little, gifted and talented teacher for the Visions program, received a grant to obtain Marcy Cook math problem solving challenge tile cards to help students develop number sense and problem solving skills. Elizabeth Crispino, media center specialist, and Maureen McFarland, computer resource teacher, were awarded a grant to create a makerspace stocked with robotics, construction, and electronics learning materials. Third grade teacher Kim Holloway was awarded a grant to continue her classroom collaboration with high school Spanish students and to publish a student-written book.
