Egg Drop Challenge Winners

Egg Drop Challenge Winners!

As part of our emphasis on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math), Mr. Jacobs hosted an egg drop challenge that was open to all grades. The challenge was to create a cushion that would prevent an egg from breaking when dropped from a height. Students earned more points for their creations based on weight – the lighter the weight of the egg protector, the more points they earned.  Our winners earned medals and Matoaka swag bags! Congratulations to our innovative thinkers!

As part of the evening events Matthew Whaley computer resource teacher Chris Van Deusen and his brother performed a live science show for an enthusiastic audience.

Family Fitness Night

Although it had to be rescheduled due to snow, the annual Family Fitness Night was a great success! Groups such as 757 Swim, Weekend On Your Wheels mountain biking, Rebounders, and American Family Fitness offered information about their programs, and teacher John Spence brought students from his dojo to do karate demonstrations. Thanks to all who participated and to our P.E. teachers Lisa Gibson and Debbie Bruce who coordinated the evening’s activities.
