Ms. Lindquist’s Class Learns Geometry!

First graders practiced learning about shapes during our geometry unit with Ms. Lindquist’s graduate student teacher from William and Mary, Ms. Zechini.  They loved making shape pizza, and counting up shapes including hexagons and pentagons!

Book Buddies Compare Pies!

Mrs. Watkins first graders and Ms. Carroll’s fourth graders put a little twist on their book buddies visit this past week with a lesson on sensory details and compare/contrast.  First, Mrs. Watkins read both classes a story about using adjectives and sensory words to describe things.  Then, they paired up with their buddies and each received two different types of pie:  pumpkin and sweet potato.  They used four of their five senses to describe each sample with adjectives and then compared/contrasted them using a venn diagram.  It was such a cool way to learn some very important reading skills!
