Our fabulous PTA is hosting a FREE spaghetti dinner and a showing of “The Three Billy Goats Gruff”, presented by Virginia Opera, on Wednesday, February 14th at 5:15! Dinner will begin at 5:15 p.m. in the cafeteria and the show will be in the auditorium from 6:15-7 p.m. There is a paper coming home with students this week and we need RSVP’s by February 9th so we have enough food for everyone. There is no RSVP needed if you’re coming for the show only and not the dinner. Remember, this is all FREE! We hope you all will choose Matthew Whaley to be your valentine and join us for dinner and a show!
The Matthew Whaley SCA has one question for you…who will win the Super Bowl this Sunday: The New England Patriots or the Philadelphia Eagles?? We want your vote! Not just any old vote….we want you to vote by donating items to the Heritage Humane Society of Williamsburg! The Heritage Humane Society helps animals find their forever home, but they can’t do it alone. They need many items to run their organization. There will be two bins set up in the center hallway this week: one for the Patriots and one for the Eagles. All we need YOU to do is vote for which team you think will win the Super Bowl this weekend by donating an item in the bin of the team you choose. All week we will be keeping track of your votes. On Friday, we will announce the “winning” team and everyone can wear a sports shirt or jersey! Please note: we will continue to accept donations for another week after Feb 2nd due to the days off from school. Help the furry friends of Williamsburg this week! Go Patriots! Go Eagles! Go Heritage Humane Society! Check out the following fliers for more info and a copy of the Heritage Humane Society wish list:
We are partnering with the Tribe Basketball Team at William & Mary for a spirit night on Thursday, Feb 1st! Order forms for tickets are due Tuesday, January 30th. Sound interesting? You’re in luck! The Food Justice League is recruiting new FJL Operatives from Matthew Whaley! To be an FJL Operative, you must be ready to work undercover at your own school. Each week, at our after school meeting, President Spaghetti will provide FJL Operatives with a fun, high energy mission that must be completed using their FJL badge, super-secret code name, and super smart brains before time runs out!
The Great Kindness Challenge will be the week of January 22-26! There will be checklists coming home with each student to encourage them to complete as many acts of kindness as they can during the week. In addition, Matthew Whaley will be celebrating with some fun spirit days:
