Students and their families used self-powered transportation to get to school in celebration of Earth Day, April 22nd and did a little to help the environment. They filled Rawls Byrd Elementary School’s bike rack. Others arrived on scooters or walked. At Norge and Rawls Byrd students participated in a Story Walk reading the book, The Lorax with its environmental message. Former School Board Parliamentarian, Mr. James Nickols, helped prepare for the fun by setting up the Story Walk at Norge which began at Our Saviour Lutheran Church. Our Saviour is integral to the Norge Elementary School Park and Walk program by donating space for parents to park. In addition to the health benefits, Walk to School Days provide opportunities for parents and children to create special moments as they start the day.
Norge Running Club and staff participated in the 7th annual Run The D.O.G. 5k on April 23rd! Running club students trained with their coaches Ms. Kohler, Mrs. Freeman and Mrs. Wiggins to prepare for the race. Over 40 students and staff from Norge raced and walked in this fun and healthy event! Way to go Norge!
Ms. Coggin’s class read books, sang songs and talked about how they can save the Earth everyday.
