Celebrating Dr. Seuss and Coastal VA Reads One Book
February 25-March 1, 2019
Monday, February 25th: “Drop Everything And Read”
Drop Everything and Read, better known as D. E. A. R. time, is a time regularly set aside in the classroom schedule for both students and their teachers to “drop everything and read.” D. E. A. R. time conveniently accommodates a variety of student interests and ability levels, since each student selects for himself or herself the book or books he or she wishes to read.
Tuesday, February 26th: “Where in the world is my teacher?”
Teachers on each grade level pick a time of the day to switch classes to read their favorite book.
Wednesday, February 27th: “Reading/Writing Connection”
Teachers will incorporate a reading/writing connection activity into the day’s plans
Thursday, February 28th: “Kick-off Assemblies”
We will have a K-2 and 3-5 kick-off assembly during the school day to celebrate the beginning of “Coastal Virginia Reads One Book”. Students will come home with lots of reading goodies so be on the lookout!
Friday, March 1: “Book character dress up day and parade”
Students can dress up as their favorite book character and will parade around the school. Please contact your grade level teacher for details about the costumes and options for this event.
The Norge administration and school community are proud to announce Mrs. Cindy Cattell as our 2019 Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Cattell serves as our computer resource teacher and so much more! She is on the leadership team, testing team, serves as our mentor coordinator, supports clubs and activities and is a master scheduler!
