This school year, more than 250 students and staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. Families, especially those with children at multiple schools, tell us the volume of COVID-related emails is overwhelming. Therefore, starting Monday, Oct. 11, schools will no longer send school-wide email notifications each time a positive COVID-19 case occurs.

The division remains committed to clear and open communication regarding events that affect our schools, so the following actions remain in place:

  • School staff will speak individually with employees and families of students identified as a close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19.
  • The COVID-19 Dashboard will be updated twice daily with isolation and quarantine numbers and positive cases by school.
  • Principals will provide COVID-19 updates in school newsletters.

If an instructional event or extracurricular activity needs to be rescheduled because of COVID, that information will be shared with families and staff through the division’s rapid notification system.
