WJCC Schools received $11 million as part of the federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act. The overarching purpose of these funds is to help sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impacts of COVID-19 on our students. Schools across the country continue to use this money to meet students’ academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs. By law, a minimum of 20% of the funds must be earmarked to address learning recovery. ARP funds must be used by September 30, 2024; therefore, any ongoing costs for personnel or initiatives beyond that date must be sustained by the school division within the constraints of its operating budget.

In June 2021, stakeholders were surveyed and focus groups were engaged to plan how funds could be allocated in alignment with WJCC Schools’ long-range goals and strategic plan.
