Hurray! Winter Break is Almost Here

There is only one more week until Winter Break! As we get closer to the holidays, we want to wish you and your family a joyous holiday season and a happy new year.

Stay Safe This Holiday Season

When celebrating the holidays this year, please remember to use multiple COVID-19 preventative measures. Layering your family’s COVID-19 protections is the best way to help stop the transmission of COVID-19. Below are some COVID-19 preventative measures.

  • Vaccination: COVID-19 vaccines are available for people 5 years old and older. It is also flu season, so getting a flu vaccine is a preventative measure your family can take.
  • Wear a Mask
  • Wash Hands Often
  • Clean and Disinfect Regularly: Clean high-touch surfaces regularly and especially after you have visitors in your home. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks.
  • Physical Distance: When possible, keep 6 feet of distance between you and others.
  • Monitor Health Daily: Complete a quick health assessment each day. If anyone is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, quarantine at home and seek guidance from a health care provider. The WJCC symptom checker (English / Spanish) is helpful when doing these daily health checks.
School Safety

Recent national and local events remind us to be extra vigilant with student and staff safety every day. School leaders keep school safety as a top priority and maintain routines and procedures to facilitate a positive school climate while keeping everyone safe.

Communication is an essential component of maintaining a safe and orderly environment. We ask families to remind their children to reach out to an adult at school or home if they see or hear about anything that jeopardizes the safety of others. We adhere to the motto, “If you see something, say something!”

Additionally, remind children about the appropriate use of social media. If anything, concerning is noticed on social media platforms, students should also share this with an adult at school or home. We value our partnership with our families and thank you for your assistance as we continue to keep our school division a safe and welcoming place within our community.

Stopfinder Testing

We are continuing the Stopfinder testing and are looking for families to test our new bus app. During the testing phase, we are asking families to set-up their GeoAlerts for both the morning and afternoon bus runs. We recommend that when setting GeoAlerts to set the location on the bus route before your stop, so you get an alert that the bus is coming. Please remember even when using Stopfinder, riders should plan to be at their stops 10 minutes before their scheduled pick-up.

How to Sign-up to Test Stopfinder

  • Step 1: Check your ParentVUE account to ensure your email is up to date.
  • Step 2: Complete the Stopfinder Test Sign-up form.
  • Step 3: Check your email for the Stopfinder invite and follow the instructions to sign-up.
  • Step 4: Watch the Stopfinder video and set up your GeoAlerts.
