April 2022 Board Meeting Summary

The school board met twice since our last newsletter. At its Tuesday, April 12, work session, the board reviewed the 2022-2023 Special Education Annual Plan, 2022-2023 Plan and Budget for Career and Technical Education, and several purchase requests. The board discussed FY2022 year-end projections, progress toward two goals from our strategic plan, and policy review and updates.  View the full board meeting video here.

At its meeting this week, the school board celebrated our Teachers of the Year and Volunteers of the Year. Our schools are stronger because of the dedication of our exceptional teachers and the generosity of our caring volunteers. The school board authorized the purchase of six bi-directional antennas and 270 emergency radios to enhance safety and security practices division-wide. The school board approved the adoption of new science materials and rejected the adoption of new social studies materials. Video from the meeting is available on the WJCC Schools YouTube channel.

Stopfinder App Launches Next Week

Thanks to about 500 families who helped us test Stopfinder, our new bus location app, over the winter and early spring. With their feedback and additional network enhancements and company testing, Stopfinder will roll out next week to all interested families.

Starting Monday, April 25, keep an eye on your email for an invitation from noreply@stopfinder.com. Only families who have not activated a Stopfinder account will be contacted. Families that activated their account during the Stopfinder testing window will not receive an invitation email and do not need to take any further steps.  As a result of the division-wide launch of Stopfinder, communication about bus delays through Twitter will be phased out over summer. Primary route-related communication will be issued through Stopfinder with Remind serving as a secondary source of communication.

For more details and Stopfinder tips, visit our web page to find Stopfinder instructions.
