Missing School Affects Student Performance

Did you know that missing any days from school can put students behind? Parents and guardians, we are asking for your help getting your children to school every day. Studies show that missing up to 18 days per year, for any reason, is linked to low academic achievement and increased dropout rates. Help us help your child succeed!

Set Up Your Parent/Observer Account in Canvas Now

All WJCC Schools students use Canvas, a web-based learning management system, to access teacher videos, learning materials and submit assignments online. By creating a parent/observer account, you can access information about your child’s courses, calendars and teacher feedback. An existing observer account can be linked to more than one student. Parents and guardians can also learn more about how to use Canvas by experiencing it as a “student” in our Canvas for WJCC Parents and Observers informational course.

What is the difference between Canvas and VUE?

Canvas houses student lessons and assignments. VUE is a student information system, which serves as a repository for student records and data. In StudentVUE, students can access near real-time information about assignments, class schedules and more. In ParentVUE you can access course announcements, information and communication from teachers.

Parents Can Monitor Students’ Internet Activity on School-issued Devices Outside of School Hours

In the interest of increased cyber safety, WJCC Schools has subscribed to a mobile app to allow parents to monitor their child’s internet activity and block or pause websites on school-issued devices after school hours. To access the GoGuardian app:

  1. Download the app (Apple Store or Google Play Store)
  2. Open the installed app and enter the email address registered with WJCC Schools
  3. Check your email for a verification message

If you have forgotten the email address registered with WJCC Schools, please call your school’s office. As a third-party tool, WJCC Schools is unable to troubleshoot issues connected to the GoGuardian app. Please reference these support pages for assistance.
