The September 9 junior varsity and September 10 varsity football games between Jamestown High School and Smithfield High School are being rescheduled due to COVID.

No one on either team has tested positive for COVID, but more than a dozen Jamestown players were potentially exposed at last week’s game against Essex High School. Currently, 13 Jamestown players are in quarantine. Other players who are fully vaccinated do not need to quarantine.

“Both teams are disappointed to postpone Friday’s game,” said Jamestown Principal Howard Townsend. “However, the health and safety of our student-athletes must come first.”

Athletic staff from Jamestown and Smithfield high schools are working together to reschedule the games. Details will be announced once plans are finalized.
