Lafayette Ram Freshman Caleb Nevins won the USA Cycling Virginia High School Mountain Bike Junior Varsity State Championship on May 9th in Mt. Solon, Virginia. Caleb rides for the Williamsburg area Colonial Revolution Composite Mountain Bike Team which competes against other schools and composite teams throughout Virginia. The 3 race series began on May 1st at Miller School of Albemarle in Charlottesville and concluded at the Stokesville Campground at the base of Lookout Mountain in the George Washington National Forest.

Approximately 500 students competed in the series which has divisions for students from Elementary thru High School for both boys and girls. The Junior Varsity division was the largest ever for the series with 135 riders trying for a shot at the overall podium. Caleb, who has been mountain bike racing since age 3 and competes Nationally in his age group, swept the series with 3 straight wins to earn the overall title for 2021.
