Thursday afternoon, Governor Northam announced that all students and staff at K-12 schools in Virginia must wear a face mask at school, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not. The mandate aligns with a state law passed in March requiring school divisions to provide in-person learning and follow CDC health and safety guidelines. In accordance with the CDC, masks must be worn indoors at school, but they may be temporarily removed when a person is outdoors or eating/drinking. As a reminder, there is also a federal mandate requiring that face masks be worn by anyone on a school bus.
