School Board Notes – April 1: Superintendent Transition Report, 2027-2028 Calendar

At its April 1, 2026, meeting, the School Board received a report from Dr. Keever on Phase I of his Superintendent Transition Plan. The update centered around work on priority action steps completed between November 2025-March 2026, and highlights progress, key accomplishments, and next steps as the division moves into Phase II, reinforcing the division’s commitment to transparency and continuous improvement. The School Board also adopted the school division’s 2027-2028 academic calendar. The adopted calendar reflects input from the Academic Calendar Work Group, survey feedback from staff, families, and students, and administration’s recommendation for an academic schedule that meets the division’s needs and requirements set forth in Virginia Code. PDF calendars for the current school year, 2026-2027, and 2027-2028 are available online.
