At its meeting Tuesday, the School Board received updates on 2025-26 student achievement, FY26 year-end finances, 2026-27 textbook selection and adoption plan, capital improvement projects, work of the instructional technology focus group, redistricting, and the WJCC United transition plan.

2026-27 Textbook Selection & Adoption. Textbook selection committees will convene this fall to review and propose textbooks for AP Business & Personal Finance, Pre-Algebra 6, Pre-Algebra 7, Pre-Algebra 8 and Algebra I.

Instructional Technology Focus Group. As outlined in Dr. Keever’s November 2025 Superintendent Transition Plan, initiative T1C directed a “Review of Screentime with a Focus on Purposeful Integration.” A focus group of 55 participants representing the School Board, division leaders, school-based administrators and staff, parents, and community members met twice in July 2026 to develop a shared vision and guiding principles and consider best practices for the appropriate, effective use of instructional technology. WJCC School’s guiding principles for technology integration are:

  • Learning comes first.
  • Strong foundations are essential.
  • Technology expands learning opportunities.
  • Intentional technology integration requires professional judgement.

Redistricting. The redistricting steering committee unanimously recommended its August attendance zone map to Dr. Keever. Dr. Keever will make a recommendation to the Board on September 15, with Board action expected October 20.

WJCC United. Planning continues to support students, families, and staff through potential attendance zone changes. Key milestones include family notifications in November, staffing planning beginning in December, and transition events in spring 2027.
