Solar Safety Alert for Upcoming Eclipse April 8

Published On: March 22nd, 2024

The 2024 total solar eclipse is nearly here with the path of totality crossing over North America on April 8. While Williamsburg and the surrounding areas will experience only a partial solar eclipse, special eye gear, not regular sunglasses, are a must for safe viewing.

Find out more here from NASA about recommended eye safety during the eclipse. Consider discussing eye safety with students who will not be in school during the upcoming eclipse. High school students will not be in school at the time of the eclipse, middle school students will be released during the eclipse, and elementary students will be classrooms.
