Did you know that students who miss more than 4 days per marking period are considered chronically absent, even if absences are excused? High absences at all grade levels are linked to lower standardized test scores, below-grade reading level and an increase in the likelihood of students dropping out of school. Help your student by encouraging their attendance, even as the holidays approach. Keeping students in school when they’re healthy allows flexibility and time, if needed, to fully recover from illness before returning to school.
