Daniel Keever joins WJCC Schools as Chief Operating Officer September 1. In tandem with the superintendent, the Chief Operating Officer is responsible for division-wide planning, implementation and reporting of the division’s strategic plan, Elevate Beyond Excellence. Keever will also oversee departments that provide efficient operations across the division, including human resources, operations, technology, and student services.
Keever’s 25-year career in education includes experience as a classroom teacher and building and central office administrator. Most recently, he has served Virginia Beach City Public Schools as Senior Executive Director for High Schools, working directly with high school administrators.
“Mr. Keever’s varied experience, collaborative spirit, and commitment to serve public education make him ideal for this important role,” says Dr. Olwen Herron, superintendent. “His leadership and ability to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously will be essential as we navigate the numerous operational changes brought on by COVID-19 and plan for the future of our schools beyond the pandemic.”
Keever fervently believes public education is rooted in service to others, a philosophy he brings to his leadership responsibilities.
“I am honored, humbled, and thrilled to join the incredibly strong team at Williamsburg-James City Schools. This role is an exciting opportunity to serve a community with a strong commitment to outstanding public education,” Keever says.
