High School SOL Academy Program

Program Duration

  • Session A: Algebra 1 or Geometry
    • Week 1: Monday, July 8 – Wednesday, July 10, 3 days of tutoring from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
    • Week 2: Monday, July 15 – Wednesday, July 17, 3 days of tutoring from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
      • Test Date: Thursday, July 18th, Algebra 1 or Geometry SOL
  • Session B: Algebra 1, Geometry, EOC Reading, EOC Writing
    • Week 3: Monday, July 22 – Wednesday, July 24, 3 days of tutoring from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
      • Test Date: Thursday, July 25th, ACT Writing
    • Week 4: Monday, July 29 – Wednesday, July 31, 3 days of tutoring from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
      • Test Date: Thursday, August 1st, Algebra 1 SOL, Geometry SOL, ACT Reading

No classes on Thursday or Friday during both Sessions

Summer Program Description

  • Program Goal: to provide students in grades 9 – 12 who passed a Algebra 1, Geometry, or English class but did not pass  or did not take the corresponding end-of-course Standards of Learning (SOL) test and needs the verified credit for graduation requirement.

Attendance

To achieve the highest level of preparation possible, attendance is mandatory and a requisite for retesting.

Instruction

Each day will focus on the different reporting categories and elements of the SOL test in a blended learning model that involves working directly with the teacher, independent review, and practice on the computer.

Test Dates/Location

  • Session A students will test on July 18 for Algebra 1 or Geometry SOL
  • Session B students will test on July 25 for ACT Writing
  • Session B students will test on August 1 for Algebra 1 SOL, Geometry SOL, and ACT Reading
  • Retests and/or make-up testing for Session A will be on August 1 (Warhill High School). Session B retakes will re-test at their home school in August.

Registration

  • Eligible students must register with the School Improvement Specialist (SIS) at their school between the dates of May 6 – June 20, 2019.
  • Students that have not registered by June 20 must register Monday – Thursday, June 24 – July 2, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Warhill High School Summer Program Office.
  • Rising 9th grade students that have passed the class but not the SOL will need to register with the SIS of their feeder school.
