Wednesday, April 23rd, fifth grade students took their annual field trip to the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center. Not only were they treated to the excellent exhibits within the museum, but students were able to venture out into the bay aboard a research boat. There they collected plant an animal samples for study and classification. What a great way to see their oceans science unit come to life!
Monday, April 21st, was World of Work Day at Stonehouse. Students in grades 3-5 had presenters come to their classrooms. Students in grades K-2 came to the gym for their presenters. Both programs featured community volunteers from all kinds of professions: military, police, veterinary medicine, college and olympian swimmers, state park rangers, newspapers, lifeguards, local business owners, even Miss Virginia came! Presenters shared with kids the ins and outs of their professions, how they got involved, along with the type of training and character traits one needs in that career field. It was a fantastic program organized by our guidance department. Thank you to Mrs. Crockett and Mrs. Williamson, along with all our presenters.
