End of Year Information

SOLs

All SOLs for all Warhill and Virtual Academy Warhill students have taken place (May 7, 14, 21, 28, and June 4). Teachers will communicate to your child if he/she is eligible to complete an expedited retake. If your child missed his/her SOL test(s) and you would still like him/her to take it, please reach out to Ms. Vermeire, School Improvement Specialist, to schedule a time to take the SOL.

 

 

Exam Schedule

WJCC 2021 Final Exam Information for High Schools

  • Final Exams are optional for all students. The exam grade will count ONLY if the exam grade helps the final grade.
  • Remote students will take exams at home during their designated class period via zoom.
  • Underclassmen exams will take place on Monday, June 14th through Thursday, June 17th. (exam bell schedule)
  • All exams will take place during the assigned time unless approved by the principal.
  • We will follow the early release exam bell schedule during exams June 14th – June 17th, as noted below.

Cap & Gown Pick Up

Balfour will be at Warhill on June 14th from 12-1:30pm to hand out cap and gowns. If you cannot make it during that time, please come to the front office after 1:30pm to pick up your cap and gown.

Graduation Tickets, Academic Keys, Cords, and Senior Letters

Please come to the front office to pick up these items if you have not already received them. Graduates receive 8 tickets for graduation. Any guest 2 years or older is required to have a ticket.

 

DOG Street Parade

  • Each graduate is permitted one car in the parade.
  • There is no limit on the number of people in the vehicle; however, every passenger must be wearing a seatbelt. Appropriate child safety seats or restraint devices must be used for passengers ages 7 and under for vehicles entering the event.
  • No limos, large vans, guests in truck beds, etc. will be allowed.
  • Students and passengers are to remain with their cars prior to the event and in the car during the parade.
  • Cars participating in the procession should arrive at Matthew Whaley Elementary, 301 Scotland Street, beginning at 5 p.m. Please enter Scotland Street from North Henry Street.
  • Upon arrival, school staff will verify that each car has a senior in the vehicle and will be given a card to place on the dashboard for entry in the parade.
  • Cars will be lined up in the order of arrival by school division staff.
  • Once the parade begins, there will be no stopping along the route.
  • Cars will exit Duke of Gloucester Street at Blair Street and follow the direction of traffic control. There will be no stopping or gathering.
  • Car should be decorated in a manner to prevent anything falling off the car and to honor the student without detracting from the occasion.
  • Division staff may request the removal of unstable decorations prior to the start of the procession.
  • Family/guests who are not riding with the graduate must park in a public lot (not at Matthew Whaley Elementary School) and proceed to Duke of Gloucester Street where they may view the parade.

Ceremony information: If you do not plan to attend, diplomas can be picked up in the front office beginning Tuesday, June 22, 2021. The summer office hours are 8am-4pm.

  1. No decorated mortarboards
  2. No balloons, flowers or signs allowed in the stadium
  3. No noisemakers
  4. Students should wear flat shoes for walking on the turf field or if wearing heels, they should be wedges
  5. Masks will not be required for students as they will be spaced six feet apart
  6. Professional photographers will be capturing the ceremony. Guests are to remain seated and not move about to take pictures during the ceremony. Guests will not be allowed to gather by the fence
  7. Clear water bottles are allowed
  8. Parking area will open one hour prior to graduation
  9. Graduates should report 45 minutes prior to graduation and should plan to park behind the home stands
  10. Handicap seating will be available, and one person may sit with the individual. The first-row bleachers are reserved for families with guest(s) who need the accessible seating area (wheelchairs, walkers, canes)
  11. Guests are asked to remain seated until released from the stands after the students are done recessing
  12. For safety reasons, please do not congregate in the parking lot following the ceremony

  1. In the event of inclement weather the ceremony will be held at Warhill High School in the auditorium.
  2. Graduates will be asked to arrive in waves and can expect to be on campus for 30 minutes.  Please see the wave list below.
  3. Parking will be at Warhill.
  4. Additional information will be shared with families the week of June 14th.

Student Laptop Collection

June 3-June 17

*All WJCC laptops and chargers must be returned before summer. Students keep the laptop bag.

*Laptops will be locked starting June 21st.

*Seniors cannot participate in graduation unless their laptop and charger have been returned.

  • Anytime: Any student that has completed all course work, and has no exams requiring a laptop, can return their laptop and charger to the Main Office, Media Center, or the annex at JBA Central Office (door 16).
  • Monday June 14th– Thursday June 17th (Exams): Leave the laptop and charger on the desk of your last exam. Remember to bring your charger (and MIFI hotspot if you got one) on the day you return your laptop!

Textbook Return for Virtual Academy Students

Virtual students can drop off library books and textbooks in the green bin located at the doors by the lions at any time between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday (except Monday, June 21st). All other students can drop them off at the library, and textbooks can also be returned to teachers.

Tyler’s Ride

During the month of May the SCA collected bikes and helmets for a local charity, Tyler’s Ride. Tyler was a 2018 Warhill graduate who tragically passed away in an auto accident in October of 2020. Out of this tragedy Tyler’s family started Tyler’s Ride as a non-profit in November of 2020 with a goal of donating bicycles to children and children for Christmas. To date Tyler’s Ride has been able to provide hundreds of bicycles to local families. Warhill and the Warhill SCA was proud to partner with Tyler’s Ride and support their mission and purpose.
